01 May Press Release for the “Make it Heard 2024” Award Ceremony
The Award Ceremony of the Radio Message and Song Student Competition “Make it Heard 2024” was successfully completed and in an emotional atmosphere, on Saturday, April 27 at the Ceremony Hall of the University of Cyprus. The ceremony was part of the events of the 8th European School Radio Festival 2024, which was held in Nicosia, April 25-27, 2024, at Aglantzias High School and the University of Cyprus.
On behalf of the co-organisers, welcoming speeches were addressed by the following: the Chairperson of the European School Radio, Mrs. Eftychia Touliou, the Head of the Department of Research, Studies & Educational Programs of the Directorate of Development & Management of Digital Content of EKOME, Mr. Dimitris Papacharalambous, the Head of the Department of Educational Radio and Television and Digital Media of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports of Greece, Mrs. Sofia Papadimitriou, and the Head of the Educational Technology Department of the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, Mrs. Christina Papasolomontos.
The Contest was held for the 10th consecutive year and this year the theme was friendship. The contest entitled “The Power of Friendship” received a huge response from the educational community this year. 527 entries, 299 radio messages and 228 songs were submitted from schools in Cyprus, Greece, Spain, England and Germany. The children’s original and imaginative creations capture the value that friendship has in their lives, so that they live with joy, love and support. For the evaluation process of the projects, jury members from the field of Education, Science, as well as renowned professionals from the field of Art and Culture took part as members of the Judging Committees. The competition entries were evaluated based on criteria, taking into account the scores of the participating schools and the Jury for the final result.
Thirty schools from Greece, Cyprus, and Croatia took part in the Award Ceremony, presenting their songs and radio messages in a special performance.
In detail, the awards were announced as follows.
AUDIENCE AWARDS
- Radio Message, Prize to 2nd Experimental High School of Kilkis for the entry “Love with capital “F” (for “F”riendship)” which received 1224 votes
- Song, Prize to Preschool of Mouriki for the entry “PSOU – PSOU – PSOU…” which received 2793 votes

Στο πλαίσιο της τελετής βράβευσης, ο Μανώλης Φάμελλος- Κριτής και Μέλος Δ.Σ. της GEA, ανακοίνωσε την απόφαση των οργανισμών που εκπροσωπούν στην Ελλάδα τους Τραγουδιστές, τους Μουσικούς και τους Παραγωγούς (GRAMMO, ΕΡΑΤΩ και ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝ) να προσφέρουν χορηγία για τρεις συμμετοχές που διακρίθηκαν στην κατηγορία Τραγούδι. Η χορηγία θα περιλαμβάνει χρηματοδότηση της παραγωγής των τριών επιλεγμένων τραγουδιών και μια μεγάλη δισκογραφική εταιρία θα φροντίζει για την κυκλοφορία και την προώθησή τους. Η ευκαιρία αυτή εφέτος θα δοθεί στα τραγούδια: «Αστρόσκονη» του 1ο Γενικού Λυκείου Σερρών, «Θέλω φίλος σου να γίνω» του Γυμνασίου Ξυλοφάγου, «Η αλλαγή» του Γενικού Λυκείου Αυλωναρίου, ενώ θα αποτελέσει κίνητρο για επόμενες χρονιές στα σχολεία που ξεχωρίζουν και δε βρίσκονται αποκλειστικά στην τελική τριάδα των φιναλίστ.
In the context of the Award Ceremony, Manolis Famellos – Jury and Member of the Board of Directors. of GEA, announced the decision of the organizations that represent Singers, Musicians and Producers in Greece (GRAMMO, ERATO and APOLLON) to offer sponsorship for three entries that were distinguished in the Song category. The sponsorship will include financing the production of the three selected songs and a major record company will take care of their release and promotion. This opportunity this year will be given to the songs: “Stardust” of the 1st Lyceum of Serres, “I want to be your friend” of the Xylofagos Regional High School, “The change” of the Lyceum of Avlonari, while it will be a motivation for the following years in the schools that stand out and they are not exclusively in the list of top 3.
All schools that took part in the Contest will receive online through the European School Radio platform Certificates of Participation and, Honorable Mention will be given to the 25% of entries with the highest score in their category, after the evaluation of the Jury Members and the Participating schools.
